About OAP

Institutional Research

The Office of Academic Planning (OAP) has the task, among others, of maintaining an agenda of institutional research that address to the height of the challenges that the Río Piedras' Campus confronts, product of external and internal forces. The OAP utilizes objective methods to search, collect and analyze data to produce information which allows the academic managers to make well-informed decisions and to develop appropriate policies.

The Institutional Research Unit (IRU) of the OAP is responsible of the design, coordination and the fulfillment of this agenda. In the period from 1995 to 1997, OAP conducted research in topics such as statistical profiles and perception, adaptation, level of satisfaction and performance of the student component. Beginning in the year 1998, the OAP generates reports, research and documents concerning a variety of subjects with a clear link to the Campus' Strategic Action Plan. The OAP continues the student component research and moves into new subjects such as: partial and total withdrawals report, enrollment tendencies; demand for nocturnal programming; curriculum and course catalog analysis; inventory of assessment activities and indicators of institutional performance, among others.
