Academic-Administrative
Management Support System (SAGA)
In the 1999-2000
academic year, the Office of Academic Planning (OAP) received
funds by means of a Title V federal proposal for the creation
of a decision support system to provide the information necessary
to support the academic managers' decision-making process. SAGA
houses a data warehouse, in which data originated from two of
the Río Piedras Campus' legacy information systems are
integrated: Student Information System (SIS) and Human Resources
System (HRS). Additional variables are added to the system, some
calculated, and others originated from other sources; for example,
publications, data from the Office of External Resources and data
from the Factum system.
The data warehouse
contains accumulated student data from 1993 to the present and
employee data from 1999 to the present. At the moment, it contains
data on undergraduate and graduate students: bio-demographic data,
admissions, enrollment, grades, and conferred degrees, among others.
This facilitates trend analysis and the generation of retention
and graduation rates. The system also stores data on human resources
with emphasis on faculty personnel: bio-demographic, academic
preparation and data on the appointment each semester. Relevant
campus data is continuously added to the data warehouse by our
team.
Access to
the querying and reporting tool is available through the Web,
and it's limited to authorize users only.
